Lowering bump stops for v8 conversion (tubing thickness?)



Putting the final touches on my j40 v8 conversion:

Looks like I should drop the front bump stops to ensure the harmonic 
balancer doesn't ever hit the diff and bend the crank.

Is 1.75" tubing made of 1/8" material strong enough to use to lower 
the bump stops, or should I use 3/16" or 1/4" thick tubing?
