[DTLC] 5 Speed Transmission
My son just purchased an '85 FJ60 in excellent shape although he's had
to rebuild the 2F engine since the PO ruined it. He wants to install a
Toyota 5 speed transmission in place of his stock 4 speed. Is it
possible to convert the vacuum style to the mechanical style using parts
off the 4 speed transfer case? Aren't the transfer cases identical?
Can he swap the input shaft on his 4 speed into the 5 speed when he
makes the swap? What steps must he take to put a 5 speed transmission
in his vehicle? He's on a tight budget but he also works in the service
department for the local Toyota dealer. Thanks for any help.
