Just curious: does anyone have a rough estimate of what the cost of
tires+shipping would be in case of 255/85x16 BFG MT's?
(5 or 6 pieces)
This means across-the-pond shipping (by slow boat of course).
What is a rock-bottom price for the tires itself in the US btw?
I know I could have had the tires siped in Scandinavia, and shipped
from there, but my guess is that the cheaper US tire price will
offset the cheaper shipping....
Btw, my recently mounted Cooper Weathermaster 265/75x16 perform lovely
thusfar (highspeed, rain & slick roads). As silent as the previous
Michelin XPC 255/75x15.
More voids than that one too (despite the fact that both have a
similar amount of siping), so aquaplaning and slush driving should be
better. Does the Michelin LTX have a nearly 50/50 balance of voids vs
blocks/lugs?
I guess it probably does better offroad too for this reason (altough
the possibly softer rubber might chew on rocky stuff).
The only thing I still wonder about is whether I could keep on using them
in summer....they can be studded, so this seems mutually exclusive,
but 'weathermaster' doesn't have a particular 'winter' element in
its name, contrary to the same size off-brand Mastercraft Glacier
Grip (also made by Cooper, same as with the Hercules Polar Trax (not
same size))....
I believe the Coopers are common for winter use in Scandinavia....any
Scandinavian members know more?
