[LCML] Strong emergency horns, Russia vs New York?

Dear groups,

During the rallye Hamburg->Shanghai, I learned to appreciate the
lovely strong & morbid-sounding horns of Russian special forces, in
the city of St. Petersburg (the best way to describe that sound is
with 'Krrrrkrrrrk').
Of course, the moment I came in contact with a Russian oldtimer-
freak, annex restorer/collector of Russian Willy's Jeeps, annex owner
of a rare permit allowing him to carry a full functional machine gun
in his Willy's Jeep, including ammunition (and a load of other
permits stuck to the windshield of his regular car, a 5-door Nissan
Patrol, allowing him to drive us through St. Petersburg's traffic
jams in a maniacal way none of us will ever forget), I had to ask
whether I could get one.
Of course, being in Russia, everything was possible, so a preliminary
deal was made. These horns are of course highly illegal in Russia,
even increasingly so, with Russian government batting down on the
abuse of both blue flashlights and such horns. The more illegal, the
better, I told him, and his grin became only wider. My type of guy.

Traveling in my direction are currently two models, one 100W, the
other 200W, only a slight difference in price.
However, later in the rallye, some German members mentioned that the
horns in Russia sounded quite similar to the ones used in the USA,
specifically New York....yet their comments were not very specific,
and more based on sound than on strength.

My question: has anyone ever had a chance to compare these horns from
both countries?
And any prices in the USA?

Since the strongest Bosch horns are just 50W, I can only assume I am
on the right track towards a more noticeable sound....it's just that
I like to be sure I can't get stuff like this much cheaper from the
other side of the pond (these things getting more and more illegal in
Russia doesn't affect their price very positively, to put it mildly)

Yes, I know I can get air-powered 150Hz train-horns with 152dB, but I
don't want to sacrifice either looks or space for those....something
electric sounds easier to mount (even though I have no idea how large
these Russian gadgets are....but they must be more compact, being
mounted on normal (armoured) cars).

Willem
(also wanting something decent on his Volvo C306 firefighter, not
having to choose between the pathetic stock horn versus the two-tone
air siren (which is both too slow starting and too obvious illegal
even to an untrained police-officers ear))
