Hi Jon:
Your transmission problems may not be your transmission at all. I
owned a 91 and now have a 93 FZJ80.
I have had to replace the fuel pump on both and when the fuel pump
goes bad you will think you have transmission problems. Something
about the lack of fuel and the interuption of the power will affect
the transmission. I would suggest you do a fuel pressure test and
see if that might be your problem.
I was told I needed a new torque converter etc.
The fuel pump is not difficult to replace and can be done without
removing the gas tank. If you want instructions, you may contact me
direct.
